One of my favourite stores that I have returned to each time I'm in Japan, is Manderake.
The store in Shibuya has remained unchanged over the years, apart from the stock!
Tobor the 8 Man, was a bit before my time, but I love this soft vinyl forced perspective figure with a Zero type Shinkansen!
Lots of 70's/ 80's period toys!
Some charming tin vehicles...
A large Astroboy hanging store display.
A 90's reissue of Tracy Island, £31 can you believe it?
Original Aurora POTA Cornelius £20!
A 1990's GI Joe for £7.50 and a 1/6 scale Dirty Harry for £35.
Joe is coming home with me as a background extra in my puppet film!
Next up is Manderake Coo Coo, the Collector's soft vinyl figure store in Akihabra! ........

Sound like Bargains to me Looey.

Amazing, thanks for sharing Lewis! I have drooled over Mandarake's kits and toys online countless times. A destination for a toy pilgrimage!
ReplyDeleteMandarake is a legend in collectors circles, such an amazing inventory of vintage Japan culture! Believe it or not, I even indulged myself a couple of times and paid handsome prices for SF model kits that I just had to have - and I can vouch for their stellar international shipping service. SFZ
ReplyDeleteThat shop is renown in microman collecting circles too. Is love to visit but sounds like id need a second mortgage to buy what I want! Bill
DeleteI first encountered Mandarake selling on eBay (not sure if they still do) but when I found their website I was lost for hours - and out a couple of bucks! SFZ
DeleteI must be old. I remember 8 man well. He somehow looks different in color. One of my favorite shows back in the day.
ReplyDeleteSomeone is going to be well laden on the trip home, I think. I have that Tracy Island set, although perhaps not that exact box. My most expensive kit ever, at around $120 NZ.
