I wandered round Harrison's Emporium near Rotherham today with a mate. Here's a few snaps of what we saw.
See anything you like?
Fry's chocolate cream. I adored it as a kid. The fruit version too. Remember that?
I'm on the lookout for this but not for £70!
A Messerschmitt!
Our Sixties house was full of wooden animals, especially antelopes. Was yours?
A Vosper boat!
Ace toy rifle.
Lovely annuals but dear inc. Fireball XL5 ...
And Joe 90.
A domed doll
Moreno hanging star. Cor!
One of several Tretchikoffs.
Waddingtons Air Charter. A gorgeous boxed game.
Big League game among these.
Old pinballs.
These wooden vikings were all over my parents' house, most often as bottle openers.
Not sure what make of car this pedal car is. You?
Tons of die-cast.
SPV and missile carrier.
Tinplate and a Paddlewagon.
My Thrushbuster that I bagged sans button. Was £8. This complete one's £40.
And another Thrushbuster!
And the one I got.
Trains
Black Hole flask
Kris, one of which I had as a young teenager along with a Kukri as part of my Martial Arts collection. I borrowed a Samurai sword from my Uncle George for a year too circa 1974, for study.
Captain Birdseye? The Fish finger guy?
Britains Mini Sets. American Indians. I loved these sets as a kid.
Toy soldiers
A real egg grenade!
Yet another Thrushbuster!
Modern Mego invisible man
And an MSV to finish. Did you have one or the cycling Citroen next to it?
I like THE ACE RIFLE by Crescent Toys who have added a rifle barrel and stock to a six shooter cap pistol.
ReplyDeleteYes, this was lovely Terran. I got it out of the box. I was tempted.
DeleteThe usual Dinky culprits with overpriced tags I see. A fair selection of toys which is good. The space book is another surprise, I really dont know where all the hundreds of 'space race' books have gone, considering they were produced in their hundreds in the sixties. I have this one, illustrated by the great John Pohlgreen. The reclining temptress in the red dress is nicely done, another seventies staple was the semi naked lady posed on a branch. I cant for the life of me understand the green faced oriental lady portrait, though. Is is artistic effect or is she made up intentionally with a green face? Speaking of which, the Green hornet is in attendance too! Bill
ReplyDeleteI picked up a MFU Thrushbister without the clicking button for £8. In lovely nick. The Green Lady, by Tretchkikoff I think, was in abundance there. Two big pictures, one priced in the hundreds, and cushions no less!
DeleteI'll take the Patrol Boat, please! SFZ
ReplyDeleteIt's a Vosper too SF. A Vosper model was used in Thunderbirds I think!
DeleteThe Boy's Book of Model Making, the Cresent Rifle, the die-casts, kits, and figures. Oh, and all those lovely Annuals.
ReplyDeleteYes, I photographed that with you and SF in mind Paul! It looks an old book of model making too!
DeleteBe still, my fluttering heart!
ReplyDeleteI saw a Vosper boat in original box, on my last visit and had to make the decision about whether it would fill a hole in my childhood memories rather than just a hole in my suitcase!
Those Tretchikoffs look just as exotically sexy as they did when I was a nipper!
But those "pinballs!" Oh boy, it would have been an unedifying sight if I'd been with you Woodsy!
Harrison's would still be cleaning my drool out of their carpet!
Yes, they had lots of old pinballs Looey, vertical ones and more horizontal arcade pinballs. It's an auction house so I imagine there's a pinball sale coming up. They were impressive!
DeleteSome tempting finds there, Woodsy. I'm with Terranova and would ride off with the Rustler Ace Rifle. Looks like an exciting place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the sausage sandwich in the cafe there too Tone! Ha ha
