I recently saw this box of Skippers liquorice pipes in a Barnsley sweet shop and the memories came flooding back!
I adored these as a kid, the soft chewy liquorice and that zap of sweetness at the end from the sprinkles.
Which liquorice sweets do you recall readers?
I used to like Pontefract, or 'Pomfret', cakes, and Red liquorice 'spagetti'.
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm a fan of Pomfret cakes too Mish, which is down the road from here, in Pontefract. Mmm, yes, red liquorice spaghetti, yes, that's fab too!
DeleteGolly!
ReplyDeleteI totally skipped that in my particular childhood!
Ha ha, skipped! Like it Looey.
DeleteI never liked liquorice, and still do not. We did have liquorice all-sorts, but I took them apart, and ate the coloured all-sorts layers, and left the liquorice for those who actually liked the stuff.
ReplyDeleteAn all-sorts nibbler eh Paul!
DeleteThose pipes are charming.
ReplyDeleteHere in the 'States we had Easter Seals, with the image of Santa's pipes censored
Fascinating but I'm not sure what you mean Anon.
