Over the summer I acquired two Dinky space planes.
Bill kindly gave me the Battle Cruiser and I picked up the Marauder at a vintage toy shop in Otley.
A touch-up, a new blister and nose ( not the best I know and not really needed) and the mission is on!
I like these Dinky space planes: chunky, tactile and they look great. The indirect Gerry Anderson connections to the Battle Cruiser - apropos his Starcruiser - helps too!
Zygon Marauder top, Space Battle Cruiser below.
Since Kevin kindly gave me the Trident Starfighter last year, pictured below, I'm just short of the Zygon Patroller now from the planes. I've never actually seen it in the flesh.
For some reason they always make me think of the 2000AD comic.
Do you like these Dinky space vehicles? Do you think they sold well at the time?
Those are amazing craft - well done! SFZ
ReplyDeleteTechnically, I gave you the Battlecruiser, you bought the Marauder! The Battlecruiser doesn't have a red nose, it's just missing the two rockets from the nacelles. I had a Patroller on release, but as it's just basically a mash up of the Dinky Tornado, Battlecruiser and UFO Interceptor, it didn't stick around long! Bill
ReplyDeleteOops! Let zygons be zygons. Ha ha
DeleteI never see Patrollers at boot sales Bill.
DeleteI'll lose the red nose Bill. I'm glad. I didn't like it!
ReplyDeleteA Dinky Patroller? I had to look that one up!

I like it Looey.
DeleteThere's an Airfix 'Starcruiser' vibe in these toys, Woodsy. I like them.
ReplyDeleteThere is a connection I think Mish, a tenuous one.
DeleteGetting an A-Wing vibe
ReplyDeleteYep, I see that.
DeleteI've never seen these before - they're pretty neat!
ReplyDeleteNice designs for sure Ed.
