Brother Midnight's suggestion about mystery header card art lead me to go looking for other possible Captain Future toys.
There are absolutely tons of them online and examples fro allover the world. It must have a been a global hit when it was on TV in the late 70's!
Here's a Japanese space pistol with brilliant graphics on the back.
Here's Capitan Futuro figure from Mexico maybe?
and here's a French Capitaine Flam figure of Johann.
I'm still not sure it's Captain Future art on the header card I posted yesterday but Captain Future has certainly spawned a whole toy chest of fab stuff over the years.
Have you seen Captain Future or got any collectables?
I've got no collectables of this captain but I did have a few episodes of the show that were released here in the states by ZIV International in the early 80s. They gave us a couple of volumes of Captain Harlock (2nd one is a bit of train wreck) Little Lulu, Candy Candy, Angel, Fables of the Green Forest and so much more.
ReplyDeleteTheir early dubs were good, especially given the time. I liked Captain Future and wanted more but it never showed up. Not even when I was doing heavy trading of videos was I able to track down episodes and I managed to find a lot of stuff back then.
The episodes I had featured the 2nd opening in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zezd32kCohU
Other than a kind of cheesy robot voice and a bit over the top dramatic narration, it was enjoyable.
Thanks a lot for this Lance. Just catching up. You have a great knowledge of 80's TV culture and anime. Were those episodes of CF on VHS?
DeleteThanks for the you tube link!
