I'm trying to kick start that festive feeling inside me.
You know, to light the tinsel.
I know other folks have already got the holly in their ivy but it's wilting before it reaches Moonbase. I'm wondering if its too early to smell Santa's spiced bouquet?
In an attempt to give it some WD40 I've been wrapping prezzies and listening to some Christmas tunes on vinyl. Missus Moonbase has touched down in Bury seeing pals.
Today's record was an old LP I got years ago from a charity shop called Scrooged, the record that is, not the shop [it would be a terrible name for a charity, Scrooged!].
Its the soundtrack to the old funny movie starring Bill Murray. Its part of my horror and monster LP collection.
To be honest I prefer the whole film to just the soundtrack though the album is pretty good, especially Put a Little Love in Your Heart.
It worked a little bit as well but like Scrooge himself I probably need to experience all three spirits of the season before my turkey juices start to really flow [get it? turkey juices? I'm basted on this blog! ha ha].
Right, time to take Blue the Moonbase Mutt for his zero-G poop on the dark lunar slopes at the top of the year.
How are you making yourself feel festive readers?
Just beginning to think about xmas- an advent calendar is a good traditional way to start!
ReplyDeleteGood idea Andy. My colleaugue told me she got a Yankee Candle advent calender. Each day a new candle and a new smell!
DeleteI'm pretty much feeling in the holiday spirit but I had a minor setback today. The aquarium in my living room (den?) sprung a leak and it took all day and more money than I wanted to spend to right the wrong. But all is well now and I'm off to a nearby pub to see a very good rock band.Oh, and the tree is up...what a bruiser it was to set up!You'll get in the spirit too, just don't force it.Plenty of time til Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBeen to a Victorian Christmas Fayre Bri and that has lit the Yuletide fuse. Wrapping prezzies to the sound of Fifties crooners singing seasonal tunes tonight has sprinkled some welcome Xmas glitter on my cranky heart too! Hope your fish are happy in their restored tank. What have you got?
DeleteSounds like you are right on schedule. This year will be my 50th Christmas and I can't remember a bad one.The fish are fine.Three baby Carp that won't be babies for long. I'll send you a pic.
Deleteha ha, Three Baby Carp! Its a brand new Christmas carol!
DeleteWe just watched "Give or Take a Million," the final episode of Thunderbirds. It is one of our Xmas favorites. That always puts me in the holiday mood!
ReplyDeleteha ha, now that's the episode full of JR21 toys isn't it Zigg? What a Christmas. They must have come straight from the toy factory. No need for Gerry to go to a toy shop like the rest of us!
