Thinking back to UK telly in the70's, 80's and 90's when we had normal, terrestrial channels, there were a few TV series that passed me by. Here are those I can recall the names of. Any thoughts readers? Did you watch them?
Northern Exposure
Eerie Indiana
My Private Idaho
Indian in a Cupboard
This Life
Dark Skies
Millennium ( I saw a couple)
Chocky
Sliders
seaQuest
Quantum Leap
Animal
Street Hawk
Airwolf
Kodiak( I think I saw this with my Dad)
Goosebumps
Are you Afraid of the Dark?
Angel
Worzel Gummidge
Lexx ( I actually watched this a lot, Ch.5, late Friday night after the pub!)
Any more you half-remember?
I like Millennium a lot, I've got the whole lot on dvd.
ReplyDeleteOne goofy one I enjoyed was "The Adventures of Pete and Pete"
ReplyDeleteSurreal goofy adventures.
I kinda saw some of Airwolf. Don't remember much except I liked the helicopter and the music.
My half remembered TV show was the 1959 Men into Space.
ReplyDeleteI saw snatches of it on my parent's first B&W telly. Later as a teenager, I was reading an issue of Starlog magazine, where a reader had sent in a drawing of his half remembered memories of the show.
Much more recently, I saw an eBay offer of the entire series on DVD (bootlegged naturally!) Like the original subject, it was astronomical! Coupled with the lack of subtitles (essential for my deafness) I decided to pass and leave Men Into Space as a blurry memory!
Eerie indiana was great.
ReplyDeleteHalf-Remembered TV!
ReplyDeleteYour list prompted me to recall, off the top of my head, some of my favorite off-network programs from the dim past.
Odd kiddie shows:
Phantom Agents (Japanese)
Billy & Butch and Their Bang-Bang Western Movies (silent westerns)
The Funny Manns (Cliff Norton)
Mack & Myer
A Day With Doodles
Tales of the Riverbank
Bizarre cartoons:
Crusader Rabbit
Bucky & Pepito
Spunky & Tadpole
The Adventures of Snip and Snap
The New Adventures of Pinocchio
Herge’s Adventures of TinTin
obscure syndicated programs:
Journey to Adventure w/ Gunther Less
The Buccaneers (British)
Meet Corliss Archer
The Now Explosion (music videos)
Everything Goes w/ Norm Crosby
Top that list for obscure, I dare ya!
SF Ziggurat
That's some obscure list SFZ.
DeleteI've only heard of 3 of them.
Tales of the Riverbank, Herges Adventures of Tin Tin and The Buccaneers.
Well done.
Northern Exposure - set in Alaska, there was a Moose head on the wall. Only saw a few episodes.
ReplyDeleteEerie, Indiana - a great series. Eerie was the weirdness centre of the USA, or was it the universe ? The boy playing the lead role had been J.R. Ewing's son in Dallas. Elvis Presley was on his newspaper delivery route.
Millennium - on very late, only saw a few episodes. A bit dark for me.
Sea Quest DSV - again, only saw a few.
Quantum Leap - A great time travel series with Scott Bakula.
Airwolf - a nice helicopter, but it starred two of my least favourite actors.
Angel - do you mean the excellent vampire series ? A spin-off from Butty the Vampire Slayer - have the full series on DVD.
Worzel Gummidge - on in the afternoon, when I was at work, so only ever saw fragments.
Lexx - way too weird for me.
Some of those shows I have not even heard of before.
Half remembered mostly British kids 60s/70s TV.
ReplyDeleteGoing a Bundle
Pardon My Genie
Supersonic
Jason of Star Command
Pauline's Quirks
The Double Deckers
HR Puffnstuff
Rentaghost
Vision On
Phoenix Five
Screen Test
I mean, I could go on ...
Ah, The Double Deckers! That one even made it to the States! SFZ
