Slim pickins down the boot sale today but I enjoyed spending a fiver on one great stall of cool tackle.
My small haul is: an Action Man rubbery cap - yet to ID (anyone?)
..... an Action Man medic blood drip
and two amazing 12 inch eastern action dolls with accessories. There are no visible markings ( although I haven't undressed them) so if you can ID them I'd be chuffed.
Needless to say they're just fabulous and so well made. The seller had about ten figures. I got what I thought were the most interesting two.
I wish I'd have got them all now!
What do you think?
Bang on, Woodsy! A quick Google Lens search confirms it IS Action Man kit.

I was a bit mystified as the colours are standard Bitish Army, but that badge... Am I seeing that right? It looks like a silver Death's Head! Surely that Action Man isn't a German SS officer, trying to infiltrate enemy ranks?
Oops! That'll teach me to read the fine print! The weblink explicitly states the skull and crossbones motif is a British Lancers badge!
DeleteThe badge is that of the Queen's Royal Lancers, whose motto is "Death Or Glory" symbolised by their cap badge consisting of a skull (Death) and a scroll saying 'or glory' underneath.
ReplyDeleteI (should still) have two of those caps from my youth, one indeed from the British Army Officer set and the other from the British officer in the Escape From Colditz set.

The Death or Glory cap badge was originally that of the 18th Light Dragoons, which was re-numbered the 17th Light Dragoons. It eventually became the 17th Lancers, which was later merged with the 21st Lancers, to form the 17th/21st Lancers. Followed by more unit amalgamations, leading to the modern title of the Queen's Royal Lancers.
