Woodsy,
Here's a couple of shots of the 'Building on Fire' scene on my 3-rail O-gauge train layout which I call The Milwaukee North Western). The first photo was taken in August of last year.
After a couple of years of placing that fire scene in different spots around my downtown area, I decided to put it in this corner.
My goal was to get as many buildings as I could fit into my downtown to make a busy urban area, and this small space was perfect for shoehorning the building into it. The second photo was taken in January after a couple of buildings were added.
The fire scene is a now bit harder to see on the one hand, on the other hand it still lends itself well to a busy, crowded city.
From The Milwaukee North Western,
Ed
A great scene. I especially love King Kong in action, atop one of the buildings.
ReplyDeleteThanx Paul! K2 has gotten a lot of time on the layout. I mostly have him working the yard switching beer reefers at the brewery, but sometimes the beast in him comes out and he needs to be quieted down! :-)
DeleteWhat a fantastic lay out Ed! It's so cool. I so want to play trains now! I'll be on the next flight to Vegas!
ReplyDeleteLOL! It's a lot of fun Woodsy and keeps me off the street! (although I have to say that being 'on the street' would probably be a lot cheaper!!)
DeleteAbsolutely fantastic urban center! I love a crowded city set on a train layout, all those beautiful office buildings and skyscrapers. Excellent background diorama too - wowee! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThanx Rob! As much as I love doing proper scenery, for this layout I definitely wanted to go for that big city look in a small space.
ReplyDeleteYou captured that look perfectly. I had an HO scale layout in the 60s with a nice big City Center, full of Kibri and Faller office buildings, alas, all gone now. SFZ
