Hello Woodsy
Attached are the four commissioned Godzilla drawings by Carmen Cerra, from the story book I wrote, in sequence.
Even Godzilla is no match for Milesosaurus Rex.
I like them even if my Grandson didn't.

I like them too. Godzilla meets The Wind in the Willows ?
ReplyDeletePaul, you are correct. When I first saw Carmen's web site he had drawings of characters inspired by Wind in the Willows.
DeleteNow that is one of my favourite books, one which I simply couldn't encourage my daughter to read.
She now lives on a road named East Willow. At the end of her block is a woodland area. My grandson when two years old was obsessed with dinosaurs so I created a book, written by me, illustrated by Carmen that had my grandsons alter ego 'Milesosaurus Rex' encounter a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the wood with the Willows characters. A few years later he asked for a story with Godzilla his new passion. This is the Godzilla sequence of a second book.
Pen and Ink is a lost art, and this guy really knows his stuff! I tried and failed at this skill several times, so I really appreciate somebody who knows his business. Drawing ability, engaging composition, line weight, light and shadow, all very tricky skills. Here's to the artists! SFZ
ReplyDeleteCarmen had worked as a newspaper political cartoonist so his skills mean he can work quickly which from a clients perspective leads to a fast and economic turnaround. In my case it also helped that we both loved the Willows characters making it a fun project.
DeleteBeautiful Terran and Carmen, a really charming Gojira. I can see Wind in the Willows being a Manga after this! Even the name has a sort of Japanese zen feel to it! Fascinating that you're able to commission art like this, as I imagine like me, most people wouldn't know where to start. I'm sure your Grandson will eventually treasure this unique book just for him.
