Hello,
As per your request here are pictures of the latest Dan Dare & Digby joining the rest of the gang in their display cabinet.
The other picture shows the Smith's Crisps delivery lorry on my layout. Smith's were the brand with the blue bag of salt to add if you wished.
I'm fascinated by the amount of space theme related toys your blog covers. In the sixties while in college I started collecting old toys originally because I was reading the Ladybird Book, Tootles the Taxi over and over again to my god daughter.
It was getting too tiresome and since the cars, lorry's etc in the book were drawn from Dinky Toys I looked for old ones to draw from for to create my own version.
As I was also buying gifts for small kids I was in toy shops a lot yet I don't remember all those space toys at all. There was a Tri-ang train with helicopter and missile launch cars, that's all I can recall.
The one I did buy was the Budgie Supercar, which I gave as a birthday present to someone.
Amongst my as yet unbuilt kits I do have a Marx Dalek, a Polar Lights Robbie the Robot and a Stingray that was going to be part of the harbor scene on my layout but I ran out of room for that diorama.
I do have a Mint poster of Captain Scarlet that was the image from the backs of the bubble gum cards, I think the artist was Ron Embleton.
Keep up the good work.

I like the colourful range of figures in the display cabinet, Terranova47. Are they lead, plastic, or a mixture of both?
ReplyDeleteThey are mostly lead/pewter by Unicorn. Top right is Flamer Sprey in metal, a copy of the Eaglewall plastic figure. The bottom row is as follows; The red fireman figure is by Crescent from their RAF set which were their Dan Dare set painted in different colours. The next three were painted by me and made by a role playing/gaming company in the UK and are unlicensed. The next is a kneeling plastic Spacefleet Commando by Eaglewall. Then it’s two rubber US policemen painted by me as Digby and Dan Dare. The two Treens are by Unicorn but The Mekon is resin and made to be sold with the Hawk Book reprints of the Dan Dare stories back in the ’90’s.
DeleteAmong the figures below the display case is my favourite BATMAN, it’s Daffy Duck and was a McDonalds ‘Happy Meal’ figure. back in the ’90’s. Happily for me my daughter was young enough then that she could be bribed to give it to me.
Sounds like you employed a shrewd parental move to secure the Daffy Batman, ha ha :)
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember buying her some Disney Comicbooks which at that time were reprinting Carl Barks, Uncle Scrooge stories, so it was a win win.
