Hi Woodsy, and Merry Christmas to all at Moonbase! It's morning here in The States and I'm getting up slowly.Christmas on a Wednesday means I worked yesterday and will be back at it tomorrow, so this will be a low energy celebration, but a celebration nevertheless.I have Cheese and Salami with Italian bread and some olives for visitors. Also some wine for anyone who wants to raise a glass.Enjoy your holiday.Peace on Earth!
Mmm, that bread and salami sounds delish Brian. I love your Italian cuisine. You'll be back at work now but hope you enjoyed your relaxing Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas everyone! Houston base is soggy but not snowed in. The thunder and lightning started before 2 am and the within 30 minutes, the skies opened up and deluged us with rain. It is 10am here now, still raining but not as hard while thunder still ripples the sky but no bright flashes of lightning. Of course right now it is 61 degrees here (16ish for those who don't use F) and are starting a week of low 60s to highs of 70s each day. No white christmas for us.
It's difficult this year, as we're at my Mother In Law's, in Wales, but she's very poorly in hospital, so we're having to visit her, in between trying to be Christmassy. So we're trying to enjoy it, as much as we can.
Got home from the obligatory family gatherings, then feasted on roast duck along with a few glasses of wine. Myself and the dogs had ourselves a grand Yule!
Wellll, as luck would have, we were all in varying stages of sickness (except for Bettina). The granddaughter and her mother were pretty much over their colds, while my youngest daughter and I were a bit miserable. In spite of that though, our unwrapping on Christmas Eve morning went very well and the day was quite pleasant. Normally I make a big Christmas dinner but this year I said 'To heck with it' and had my daughter go and get us pizza and breadsticks! Christmas day was spent quietly at home watching whatever Christmas movies and shows were being aired.
Sorry the family is ill Ed. I bet Bettina was run off her feet! Ha ha. The Christmas pizza and bread sticks sound great. What did you wash them down with?
Actually Woodsy, we try to leave Bettina alone when we're sick. We get up and do things for ourselves! The pizza got washed down with egg nog - followed in the evening by Eierlikör. All-in-all, very helpful for building up winter fat around the waistline! LOL
Thanks Woodsy! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! Some bittersweet to the season, expected as we age, but our shared memories (and love of toys) maintain the magic.
