I'm seeing SWAT and Police Cars with Action dolls all over the place!
This is a Japanese Hema toy AMERICAN Alfa Romeo Police car I saw online on Ebay.
Maybe those figures are Action Team? Have these GI Joe Action Men got stockings on their heads? These fighting men get everywhere!
Have you found them in strange places readers?
and here's LJN's SWAT set from 1976 courtesy of RetroWaste. Are the HEMA guys SWAT too?
Those SWAT figures, here close-up and courtesy of MYMEGOLIKE, look like little Action Men! Anyone got any SWAT toys. Was it a TV show?
and here's LJN's similar Rookies too courtesy of Plaid Stallions. Was that a TV show?
Have you a Police Car with action dolls like these or Action Man/GI Joe readers?
Swat and Emergency were TV shows Woodsy, hence the copywriter smallprint under the headings (not sure about Rookies).
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, the star of Emergency was called Randolph Mantooth (I kid you not).
Mantooth eh! ha ha, I guess thats why the Plaid Stallion's mascot is called Brick Mantooth Mish! Who knew!
DeleteHe was also in Battlestar Galactica…chased by the Eastern Alliance
ReplyDeleteMantooth got around!
DeleteThe Rookies (1972-76) was about three young police officers. S.W.A.T. (1975-76) was another TV series about a SWAT team. The S.W.A.T. Carry Case looks to have pictures of the cast members on it. Both reached NZ, but I barely remember them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Paul. Don't think I've seen any of them.
DeleteI never saw Swat or Rookies, but I think Emergency aired in the UK on ITV, in the '80s.
ReplyDeleteReally? I spent a lot of time in Europe and in Wales in the 80's so I probably missed it Mish.
DeleteWSell, I suspect those figures of the crooks in the top pics are actually Action Jackson figures as that baby blue jump suit with white accessories is definitely from AJ. Action Jackson has a clean shaven head and a full beard head, both in different colors, so I would say those are bearded AJs with a stocking or such over their head. The black figure in jeans by the van's side shows evidence of this around his neck and tucked behind his back but visible over his shoulder.
ReplyDeleteThe only SWAT van I had, along with figures, was from Mattel's Heroes In Action SWAT line. Thinly retooled/reaccessorised figures from their Army line. It was meh at best, barely had any detail inside beyond a few stickers. But hey, the weapons were the perfect size for Micronauts!
