Season 1 of Blake's 7 on Blu-ray is down for release in November, and will be getting new enhanced special effects, using a combination of real models and CGI.
The model shots were apparently filmed at Hanslope Village Hall, the home of Smallspace..
Although, to be fair I don't have any issues with the original effects, they're all part of the charm and nostalgia of the series, I still look forward to seeing the results.
It's jolly exciting!
ReplyDeleteI really hope it sells well enough for them to do the remaining three seasons, Kev.
DeleteWell I'll buy it, I wonder if that will be enough?
DeleteThey may be hoping to sell a few more than that, Kev! ;D
DeleteDamn!
DeleteHa,ha! I'll probably invest in a copy, so that might tip the balance! ; D
DeletePhew!
Deletethere's an advert, looks good.

It's gonna sell like hot Blake's!
ReplyDeleteWill probably get it for the interviews. The CGI 'updated FX' looks rather poor though by today's standards. Much prefer the original modelwork by Ian Scoones, Mat Irvine, Nick Alder and Brian Johnson even though it was low budget. (Nick and Brian helped Ian out when the early model filming was done at Bray Studios). I still wish the BBC would reboot the series or do a sequel.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the effects, I wish they'd leave it as it was, or at least give you the option to have new effects or old ones (which they have done on some Doctor Who dvds). Don't agree about the remake or reboot though. For me, Blake's 7 is all about the characters as portrayed by the original cast. A good remake is rare, and I suspect the trick is to pick a mediocre show as your starting point! (Which B7 is not, in my view I hasten to add!).
