This is an unusual shop display card of metal necklaces.
I saved the pictures from Ebay in January.
They're Thunderbirds and the maker's mark on the card is Bandai.
The listing said they were from the 1960's or 70's.
The header card is a real mish mash. Does anyone know what's going on?
The pendants themselves are pierced metal with enamelled vehicles.
Anyone got anything like this?
I've got some Cufflinks, one set of Thunderbird Two and the other set of Thunderbird Five.
ReplyDeleteCool Bill. When do you wear them? Special occasions?
DeleteYes Paul, and sometimes just because I can.... The TB2 was a present from my beloved late friend Kim for my 40th birthday; we were friends even before I started school. Sadly she died in 2004, so every time I wear them I think of her.
ReplyDeleteTB5 was a Christmas present from my wife. I always loved TB5, even as a kid I was fascinated by this static, communications satellite. A watchful, silent sentinel far up in the sky like a some sort of far off remote outpost. This set is a bit bigger than TB2 and the communications pylons are somewhat on the spiky side!
Both sets are really solid and made out of some kind of cast metal, with a coloured enamel inset. Very similar to those necklaces, TB2 is Gold, TB5 is Silver.
I love that line Bill "a watchful silent sentinel". If I recall rightly not many Thunderbirds episodes were set in space were they. Poor Alan, stuck up there on his own.
DeleteCarry on enjoying wearing your links Bill. very poignant.
That header card is a doozy! I wonder if the somewhat alarmed gentlemen in the bottom left hand corner, might be criminals of some kind? Maybe their pet dinosaur was vanquished all too easily by the Tracy boys and they're headed for a cell with "Light fingered Fred"!
ReplyDeleteThey do look like criminals Lewis don't they! Like Nineties Thirties hoodlums! I love the way the Japanese merge huge monsters with futuristic vehicles. I'm not sure anyone else can do it like them.
DeleteI think it's safe to say that what is going on in that header card is not canon.
ReplyDeleteIts not canon but they are cannons Todd! ha ha. Its a mess for sure.
