We've probably had this mystery toy on Moonbase before but like the proverbial goldfish I forget. My only excuse is that we are very close to our ten thousandth post on the blog!
This toy space gun set, which often turn up on Ebay, has card art that looks like its from a cartoon. Does anyone know what it is?

I saw this on Ebay today and its more or less the same toy, just different card art!
Made in Hong Kong, reading the small label at the bottom it looks like this one was a Canadian import.
Just noticed the top set above was made in China.
I don't know anything about this example but I had a black plastic Luger design pop gun from Woolworths just like this in 1956. Back then it had a different header. It came with two corks resulting in a visit to the local chemist for more ammunition. (Not covered by the National Health Scheme)
ReplyDeleteWhat. You could get corks at the chemist terran?
DeleteUntil the 1960's if you had a pharmacist mix a cough medicine or tonic it was dispensed in a glass medicine bottle with a cork, no plastic screw tops.
DeleteSounds like a proper chemists Terran! Now we have to give ours two days notice before we want anything!
DeleteBrother midnight. I have accidentally deleted your comments by mistake sorry. I liked your captain future suggeztion.
ReplyDeleteBrother Midnight has left a new comment on your post "Mystery Space Robot Target Game":
ReplyDeleteIt looks a little like an anime named Captain Future from the late 1970's

Yep, it has been featured before here http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2017/09/space-robot-target-cork-gun-game.html#comment-form
ReplyDeleteBlimey, I'll forget my own name soon. Thanks Lance. Your comments last time were insightful. I have found another toy like this, which I'll include above today. I suppose all it proves is that the makers of this set trawled around for different header art at different times.
