These 2 images have been in my archive ever since I got online in the early to mid 90's.
They were from a huge collectables site called Gasoline Alley and were the first T in a Circle Moon Bus I'd ever seen.
I remember how excited I was at the time, not really knowing anything about it or how it fitted in with the normal SWORD Moon Bus by C21.
Back then and right up to 2008 I thought T in a Circle and Tarheel were the same thing!
As it happens an example of this boxed toy is the one remaining want on my wants list of SWORD toys. One day!
Which old toy images did you first get excited about online?
There must be many that I cannot recall instantly, but one of the very first I remember being obsessed about was the boxed Aoshin Space Patrol TB2. It was for sale in the Netherlands, for a princely sum of USD 1000. The toy was pristine but box tatty, with creases on the lid. Still I remember succumbing into that beautiful object of fantasy over and over, revisiting the auction page again and again. In retrospect, I was fortunate not to go for it then as a much better opportunity opened some time later.
ReplyDeleteAh, that's a great memory Arto. And what a toy, the Space Patrol. That's the tinplate one isn't? Those early internet memories are important to us for some reason. A bit like the first time we saw something in a book.
DeleteYes Woodsy it is the tinplate one, but then again that was my early, unruly years you see ☺ The wings are plastic however!
