NO MUSTANGS

Hello Woodsy,

Mustangs seem to have escaped us but I did find these from my daughter's toys. Her son will inherit them when he stops exploring the world through his mouth!

In the line-up left to right:

ISOLATION WANDERERS

I've always been fascinated by nature's ability to return to abandoned places. Where human structures revert back to nature. There's a whole book about it called The World Without Us.

The pandemic is allowing this to happen now allover the world.

Pollution is decreasing, air quality is rising, skies are vapourless and animals are venturing into empty streets.

The wild Welsh goats wandering through Llandudno are famous but my fave new image of wild liberation is this coyote sunnying itself near the Golden Gate in San Francisco!

I hope animals enjoy their new-found if short-lived freedom to roam.

Prompted by the sight of the unmade Excavator kit on the blog recently, I have dug out some shots of the various Excavator toys available. Above is the Imai Excavator kit, that Rob C has. This came in motorised and static versions, this is my take on the static model, with some customisation.

Again, an Imai model from the Recovery Vehicle triple pack, this version is about 4" long and much more basic. Again, customised by myself.

The original Ron Turner art, which was used as the inspiration for the model, which never appeared anywhere else.

Smaller Imai Excavator emerges from the large modern Tb2 pod.

IS LEMON CURD A CUSTARD?

I was chatting with a friend on the phone and we discussed re-discovering Lemon Curd this Lockdown. A nostalgic spread, its something we both enjoyed in the past. My Missus had never seen it on the Continent either but has loved it for years.

Its back on the menu at Moonbase!

Whilst chatting my friend observed that's its basically a custard. What, I said! A Custard? Yes, a citric custard. Its full of eggs was the reply. Outlandish I thought. I had to check. And lo and behold, the ingredients listed on the glass jar do say Eggs. Well I'll be a sleepy milkman!

It is indeed then a type of custard in the same way, say, a Quiche mix is or the classic Custard tart. I suppose the clue is in the name. Curd, short for curdle. As in curds and whey! Distinctly dairy. But are eggs dairy? Oh my god, I'm curdling my own brain over here.

Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the larder I've remembered something else. Something similar but ... different.

Lemon Cheese!

Is that the same as Lemon Curd? Is it a custard too? Or is it really a cheese?

I can't cope. I'm off to have a slice of toast ... with jam!

I recognise the red car; its a Merehall Amphibious Missile Launcher we've had on here before. But what is that yellow vehicle? Anyone know?
