STARBUG AT SMALLSPACE

A few photos of a Jupiter Mining Corporation Class II ship-to-surface transport vehicle better known as STARBUG.

This studio scale replica model of the crew of Red Dwarf's primary shuttle craft was built by David Sisson. Here's a photo of him holding the model, explaining it's intricacies to a Smallspace attendee.

There was also a smaller model of the craft on another display, unfortunately I don't who made this particular little beauty. Perhaps someone can let know.

  1. Stunning work from David Sisson.
By far the most accurate replica of Starbug I've seen!
    Mish.

  2. It really does look like a bug this time round, about to take off. Great shots Scoop and amazing modelling by David S, yes. I loved early Red Dwarf. Inspired writing and zany Eighties humour. I like the current Red Dwarf TV ad for the AA, where the Cat ejects the Hologram guy, Kryton? [forget their names!]. A second wind for the Bug!

    1. Yes, Red Dwarf is still quite a cult show. The bug in the advert is slightly different to the original one but it still looks fine. David's Starbug is very detailed and some people can understandably think that's its an original prop rather than the excellent replica it is. BTW Arnold Rimmer, played by Chris Barrie is the Hologram.
