which is the most important sci fi tv series ever?

Which do you think has been the most significant Sci Fi series in the history of TV?

Thunderbirds? Flash Gordon? UFO? Maybe Star Trek? What about Dr.Who?

There are so many to choose from!

Which is your choice and why?

  1. Difficult to say. I suppose it depends on what counts as significant. To me personally, the works of Gerry Anderson, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Blakes 7 are all woven into the tapestry of my life. In the wider sense, NASA have stated that they view Star Trek as a long term strategy so I suppose its significance is great.

  3. Star Trek seems pretty widely recognized and influential, in a variety of ways that go beyond just being aped in other sci-fi shows.
The Andersonverse stuff was a big deal in my childhood... as was Dr. Who... but most folks I know are relatively ignorant of those shows, compared to Star Trek.

  4. For deeply personal reasons, I cannot ever look past the original Star Trek.
