Here's another toy I used to have. Well sort of. This is a later version from 1974 - The Thomas Salter Adventure Kit - shown bottom right in this Thompson Toys Catalogue 74/75. It cost just £4.98 back then - those were the days. I loved my Adventure kit in the Sixties: water bottle, torch, belt, pouch. Does anyone remember it? It's funny but the Dekker Astronaut suit top left on the page (£7.95!) is the ONLY space toy in the entire catalogue of 43 pages. I suppose the space craze had virtually dissapeared by then. For me 1974 meant KUNG FU and HEAVY ROCK!
I had the adventure kit and took it on a school holiday in 1975. I still have the compass and use it to this day.
ReplyDeletehey James Fab! A fellow Adventurer! Yay! If you want to send me a pic of your TS compass I'll blog it for you here and share the excitement! My email address is at the bottom of the page, moonbasecentral@........ Thanks, Woodsy

ReplyDeleteFantastic! I got one circa 1970 I think, You can't keep a good toy down!
DeleteI had the adventure kit it came complete with a very sharp pen knife. My brother cut his thumb opening it up on Christmas morning. I'm not sure what age group it was aimed at?
ReplyDeleteOoh, sounds painful. I remember that sharp camping knife too!
