BLOGGIVERSARY PROJECT: SALVAGE CRAFT MINIATURE RESIN MODEL

Introducing SWORD-Y-KINS: my bit of fun name for a proposed series of DIY miniature models of the rarer PROJECT SWORD and SPACEX toys. First up is this professionally made model of the wondrous SALVAGE CRAFT. No known example of the actual Spacex toy (illustrated below) has surfaced, so the best we can do is make models. This beautiful gaming miniature is a pre-production resin and has been created by the combined efforts of modelmaker Velbor and Texan manufacturer Ravenstar Studios. Velbor has based his design on the original Eric Eden GK-10 Salvage Craft illustration. which featured in TV21's Fireball XL5 comic strip (see WOTAN's earlier post). This original concept is bulkier than the later and sleeker Spacex II ship in the card art - pictured below. I have opted to paint the model in the Spacex II style as I like the bright colours! Adding a box and a stand finished it off. Not sure how it turned out but it was great fun!

The good news is that I have a couple of spare unpainted SALVAGE ships, like the one pictured below, kindly donated to Moonbase by Velbor. I plan to offer these to two lucky blog readers in the near future by way of an as yet undecided competition. Watch this Space -X!

I would like to thank Velbor and Ravenstar Studios for taking time to send a pre-production sample.

Oh boy! I'd like one of those!

I'm intrigued by the description "gaming miniature". Is there going to be a game too?

  3. The craft is made at the scale wargamers use - about the diameter of a 2 pound coin. Sorry, there's no game! You could make one though! Here's the very first one on the creator's site:
