Atlantic was an Italian company, but this is not a line I know. According to the book Airfix's Little Soldiers, which has a chapter on Airfix's Competitors, Atlantic was a maker of 'outfits and cap guns'. Then, in 1971 launched its modern figure line, then Wild West, and Ancients. Mostly in HO scale (1/87th), and some in 1/32nd scale. The figures were in soft plastic, and the vehicle kits I saw were rather basic (I am being kind). Sorry, I have nothing on pre-painted space toys.
Atlantic Space series were a very limited line in the early 80’s. probably four 3” figures, maybe 3 vehicles and a couple of sets. very stylised and odd, in the vein of Barbarella and other wacky sci fi, but very rare and collectable. I bought a figure on ebay once, but it got mysteriously lost in the mail.. Bill
There's a website about Atlantic models and toys here: http://www.atlanticmania.com/EN/home.htm My favourite model they made was their UFO SHADO Mobile ripoff called the Command Tank. Pic here: https://www.figurenschnapp.de/en/detail/index/sArticle/54731 I recall getting one from a stationers shop (!) back in the late 70s here in the UK.
Fabolous, back in the 70's I was an avid collector of everything sorted out by Atlantic (at least in Italy it was a must have). In particular, I had (as XMAS gift) the Falcon spacecraft, it looked like when Colani meet the SR-71 and I loved it!
I'm well aware of Atlantic's WWII line (but I don't have any from that). I do have two lone Atlantic aliens that came in a job lot, but this Star Base is a new one. I like the terrain pieces a lot - they're reminiscent of Marx terrain pieces.
That ship has such a Triang SpaceX vibe in the colouring and styling! I was trying to work out what the design came from for those engines and then it dawned on me. An SR-71!
Overall, the shape of the craft is a little like the WW2 American McDonnell XP-67 Bat fighter plane. Only that was piston-engined, and the cockpit was much further forward.
Wow, never seen it but isn't that just the epitome of 70's cool?
