Quatermass History Video

Hi Woodsy

I just found this on You Tube, a 23-minute history of Quatermass.

From the original TV serials by Nigel Kneale, to the later Hammer film versions, and the paperback books.

At the end of the video a View-Master package for The Quatermass Xperiment is shown, but I doubt this is real. I could not find any sales listings for such a set, and it seems like a very unusual subject for a View-Master reel.

Do you like Quatermass?

  1. You are right about the fake Quatermass Xperiment View-Master release, Paul. There never was a "Quatermass Series", nor a single packet release. It is not included in the Ultimate Reel List, the most comprehensive list of View-Master releases. Moreover, the packet cover design combines anachronistic elements from different View-Master eras.

  2. The Quatermass series, and other TV and movie scripts Nigel Kneale wrote, are amongst the most intelligent and best ever written. Kneale's ability to predict future scientific and social trends, and point out their potential dangers, was truly remarkable.
Probably my favourite post war Sci Fi writer.

  3. The Quatermass films, and TV serials, are tremendous. My favorite is still Quatermass 2, seen here in the US as Enemy From Space. SFZ

  4. Yep, I love Quatermass too. Oddly enough my favourite is the last one with John Mills, Conclusion. Utterly mesmerising.

  5. I was lucky enough to be allowed to stay up past my bedtime back in the 50's to watch the BBC originals. The Hammer Films 'Pit' was a delight to see as the TV shows were not rebroadcast back in the day.
