I see several kits in that model shop that I would like - Airfix Vintage Classics re-issues of kits from the 1960s and 1970s. No brass cannon in my childhood.
Yes, Ed, but you do have the La Brea Tar Pits, perhaps the most exciting pf Aurora's Prehistoric Monster Scenes! Pictures welcomed of the real thing Ed! I watched VOLCANO on TV last night all about LW getting covered in lava! What a movie!
hmmm, I never saw the entire movie just a good portion of it one time while I was channel surfing on TV. Anywho, I looked it up and the action takes place in LA, not Lost Wages.
I'd love to see a wider shot of that York model shop! I've made model shops with models and comics in the windows and I love the surrounding architecture as a part of the "vibe". I have fragmentary memories of a Victorian era model shop with blue painted timber windows from my childhood. I was more interested at the time of the Tamiya Apollo kits it contained! Plenty of brass around the old Morley household. Nearly all antique finds from our English days. I remember a Victorian brass Pestle and Mortar and various industrial tools, like measuring wheels. And my Father's crowning glory was an elliptical glass dome with a brass fretted Carriage Clock inside. It looked like a skeletal Gothic cathedral!
Like Ed mentioned above, not anything worthwhile in Las Vegas/Henderson area that I've found yet. Went into a small local chain I saw advertised on a TV commercial about 7 months ago, advertised as a "hobby shop with models and more.". First time I've been in a hobby shop in several years. It had about 6 model kits, the rest of the store was drones! Very disappointing! The search goes on. Jim D. Henderson NV
Jim, I checked out their ad as well and was equally disappointed. There is (or was - it's been years since I was there) a really cool toy shop right at the Fremont Street Experience. A bit pricey though. At one time there was a Hot Wheels store on West Craig - you walked in there and the walls on either side were carpeted in Hot Wheels - floor to ceiling - along with shelving in the middle packed with Hot Wheels.
Always go to that model shop when I visit York. Pretty sure there was brass around the parental home!

DeleteWe used to have quite a few hobby shops here in Lost Wages. I'm afraid they've almost all went the way of the Dodo Bird.
