A LOOK AT SMALLSPACE 11: PART 1 ROBOTS & DALEKS

Some photos of some of the robots and Daleks from the annual Smallspace event organised by Paul Fitzmaurice and Mat Irvine, that took place last Sunday in the village of Hanslope.

As always it was great to meet up with some old old pals, and chat about special effects, sci-fi modelling, old comic books and  toys,  and  just generally chill  in a lovely English setting.

There's always a Dalek or two on display, courtesy of Iain Robinson and Iain McDonald

David Sisson brought along the original SLOMO prop from Gerry Anderson's Space Precinct, which he's in the process of restoring.

Along with SLOMO, there was no shortage of Robots being represented.  I was very impressed with this fantastic V.I.N.CENT replica model from  The Black Hole, built by the very talented Brian Jones.

V.I.N.CENT does pretty much everything that his film counterpart does , apart from hover,. I wouldn't be surprised if Brian  hadn't given him working laser guns!

Another highlight was Brian's scratch-built drone robots from the film, Silent Running.

Dewey

Huey

Louie

Brian also made some wonderfully detailed miniatures of Dewey, Huey & Louie in a diorama setting. I love addition of the little watering can !

In the film, Silent Running, the three drones, Huey, Louie and Dewey, were played by double -amputee actors whose arms served as the drones'  legs. Walking on the hands, it gave the robots their distinctive waddling gait.
