Seeing as people are showing off trains, here's what I'm up to. A loose-lay Hornby clockwork oval with working Control System. I found I'd run out of metal wire of a certain thickness so I didn't fit the guides for same and improvised with leftover electric wire instead.
With oiling done (very important to remove friction for clockwork operation), I'm now debugging the track. Which after 85+ years is far from straight or level but I'm sorting out the kinks one by one.

ReplyDeleteTo answer Ed, this particular Control System signal and points (switches) are pretty recent, I have some more stashed away somewhere. The train and most of this track is what I had running nicely in the garden a few summers ago - you may recall I sent some pics. I picked this train because the points are for clockwork use and because it's most accessible. Any other train or electric track would require a major excavation...

ReplyDeleteWell the carpet's far from new, and I'd describe it as "dirty dalmatian" so a spot more or less won't make a difference. I've had some choice comments on playing trains though...
