Continuing the theme of Airfix Astronauts, Kevin has kindly sent me his set of spacemen, all professionally painted in NASA livery! To accompany them, he also has the slightly larger Revell Lunar Module kit, bathing in Earthshine!
Nice model work! That gold foil is always the icing on the cake! I noticed this model (like the Airfix) has thruster baffles on the lower RCS nozzles. Just yesterday I was espousing my 50+ year belief that they weren't an actual thing. Well in the spirit of showing up my long held ignorance, I just Googled it. And yes, Looey, there are thruster baffles...
Thanks. Presumably the baffles were to protect the sweet wrappers with sophisticated thermal protection properties that were stuck on places that looked random but undoubtedly weren't.
Sorry Bill and Kev, just seen I've covered yer post! We posted literally at the same time! A great Airfix set that Kev and a fab Earthshine image.
ReplyDeletehonestly, anyone would think its your blog!

In my defence I would try to point out they are matte black and therefore my childish eyes overlooked them.
Never too old to learn!
