    1. I made the Glenn Field diorama probably around ten years ago to originally photograph the Aoshima Zero X die-cast. The board ended up being around 6 foot x 4 foot, and I used it several times after that for several different models. It's retired now, leaning up against one of my garage walls.

    2. Lovely work! These things are never really retired, you always keep them "just in case"...
After shooting storage is always the problem. I'm planning a puppet film and I have polystyrene cliffs from the Valley of the Kings all along my top shelves! I have a plan for a long shot of the city of Thebes, with lots of mud brick houses and palm trees. That's going to be a real pain to store! I'm thinking of making it on a big sheet of foam rubber, so maybe I could just roll it up to store it!

  2. I've seen these Aoshima models many times on Moonbase, but what are they made of ? Vinyl, styrene or die cast metal ? And what sort of size are they ?

    1. Zero X and Thunderbirds 1& 2 are die cast, and very detailed with lots of innovative features. TB1 is around 8" long, while TB2 is around 16" . Zero X is slightly shorter.
Fireflash is a plastic kit, I'd guess around 14"

  4. Those are true beauties, and your sets are of course perfect! There’s nothing as pretty as the Zero-X, imho. SFZ
