The Real Space Glider

Woodsy, I loved your space glider collection post - way cool!! Thought you'd like to see this photo of the H-10 Lifting Body taken at Edwards AFB in 1982.

    2. Bill, on the day I saw this H10, I also saw President Raegan give a speech standing in front of the Shuttle Enterprise. I also saw the Shuttle Columbia land upon completion of STS-4, and the Challenger lift off on the back of its specially modified 747. It was a good day! :-)

  2. Isn't this what Steve Austin wreaked!

    1. That was the M2-F2 lifting body Hugh, one of several designs being tested in the '60s. The crash gave the pilot skull and facial injuries and he lost an eye, but survived.

    2. It features in the real life clips on the intro, being loaded onto a carrier plane, but its then cut with the M2 F2 for the actual crash sequence. I wonder if the brave pilots injuries influenced Steve Austins supposed replacements? Bill

  3. I had one of these, an Estes "cold propellant" plane: https://thumbs.worthpoint.com/zoom/images1/1/0612/28/estes-cold-power-shrike-jet-plane_1_0251382dc5bbc9f076cf6ea649173fcf.jpg
