STAND BY FOR ACTION

Regarding Kevin's X-20 submarine model post, and his underwater shots, some of you might remember my Comet Stingray post I did a while back, were I decided to use the same technique (in a somewhat smaller scale) that was used on the original TV series, filming the model through a water tank, and using a pump to produce a bubble effect.

  1. That's so cool! Sad to know that I can't take my sub into the pool or bath, though. ;-)

  4. Hi Mish......Thanks for that comment....made my day.....Mike's Photography and set designs....superb....Derek Meddings and the Team would be proud using the techniques they pioneered in those early days in the sixties....and Kev's efforts today with his X20 sub pictures , a very good start to continue the legacy for doing miniatures at the bottom of the "sea"....great work my friends....can't wait to see what you guys do next....Best Regards to you all....Richard Dixon....Creator of SEASTAR 5 INVADERS FROM THE ABYSS....Lancashire , England .

  5. Simply amazing result, Scoop. It's great to get access to witnessing how it's all done, so extra thanks for the behind-the-scenes photos. Reminds me of that rare Waddington puzzle showing the C21 studios in action.

    1. Thanks Arto, I know the photo you mean, which was printed in one of the TV21 summer extras, The puzzle was an unusual but intriguing choice of photo for a jigsaw, but a valuable incite into the workings of C21, at the time.

  6. These stunning images are so evocative of the original series, they actually brought tears to my eyes. Amazing recreation of a lost art! Stingray was my first Supermarionation obsession, and this is like revisiting that most exciting moment in time. Wow! SFZ
