HMS VICTORY

Here is an amazing HMS Victory kit I was given as a gift - a giant wooden kit.
Hope you like the look of it.

  1. I love old ships…I remember a chart of sailing vessels at an old Captain D’s

  2. The Victory is in the Portsmouth historic dockyard and was a place I visited regularly every year as a kid, years later a customer of mine at the barbershop carved the molding model of Nelsons fireplace for his own private quarter's

  3. It should be a lovely model when finished. I've done a plastic kit of Victory and a wooden kit of a fishing schooner, nothing as complicated as that one is going to be.

I have not even started it yet. It is 43 inches long, and 31 inches high. What a monster, and I do want to do a good job on it. I think I should start on a smaller and simpler wooden kit, and work my way up to the Victory.

  5. I saw a similar kit in a charity shop, a ship to be made of thousands of matchsticks. A herculean task. Good luck should you ever start Paul! A lovely gift.

  6. Yeegads! That is one monster kit! Working in wood is very pleasant, from what I can recall, but requires a different set of skills than plastic. Take your time, and enjoy the experience! SFZ
