You Schwinn Again

This is Little Miss Moonbases's new Schwinn trike.

Second hand, it was a bargain at £20. Just needed it's tyres inflating and a quick polish.

The back footboard is just fab and it's overall retro styling reminds of America's Radio Flyer cart.

What do you think? Did you have a trike or a Radio Flyer?

For Lance ....

the Firestone Cruiser as seen online. is it like yours?

  1. I remember having a trike and I remember it having a red and blue colour scheme. I can't remember if it was one of those with a boot or not. I do clearly remember its rear mudguards only just fitted around the path in our back yard. We left that house when I was 5 at the absolute most. Odd what sticks in the mind.

    1. it is odd what sticks Kev. When you say boot do you mean a bag or a basket at the rear?

    2. No, a metal box attached at the rear with a lid, a bit like a breadbin!

  3. I had a trike so long ago the wheels were made of stone! :-) And then I had the ubiquitous little red wagon and also a pedal farm tractor.

  4. I had a gold and white tricycle that was made by Firestone. Well actually made by various companies but had the Firestone branding and was sold in their stores. I'm not sure I have any pics of it as Dad documented everything on slide film back in the 60's-70's and iit's a pain in the backside to go thru them.

Never had a Radio Flyer but I did have a Firestone Cruiser! I know there's a pic of of a very young, single digit years old me in it around the house somewhere. More importantly, the wagon itself is currently out back in the tool shed. It's seen a lot of use in its 55+ year life and my parents kept it to haul concrete, dirt, plants, etc throughout the years.

My maternal Grandfather owned a Firestone store in Indiana which is why I have a lot of things marked Firestone, including 4 different tread pattern tire/tyre ashtrays, and a hammer branded Firestone.
