WHO WAS RICHARD PETTY?

As I like rack toys, this Ja Ru one from 1984 on auction caught my eye. I've never heard of Richard Petty. Who was he?

American racing car driver - he is so famous even I have heard of him. Numerous kits and die-cast models of his cars.

  2. Never heard of him either Woodsy, but then I've never been remotely interested in cars or motor racing.

  4. I knew him for his micro machines miniatures. Only a dozen drivers or less got their car reproduced in the Stock Car Superstars subline. Actually it was collection #1, so I guess he is the most famous of them all.

  5. Those keys look real to me. One looks like a volkswagen key and I see two General Motors keys. Richard Petty drove Dodge cars.

By the way, the question should be: "Who IS Richard Petty?"
Because he's still alive at Eighty Five.

  7. A casual glance at that pack, with the blue striped car, ten gallon hat with a badge and checkerboard strip, might imply he was a Dukes of Hazzard style Cop!
