This is an interesting look at the history of toymaking in Hong Kong.

There's mention of the Century 21/ JR21 New Flying Saucer too!

  1. A very interesting Supercar site, although all I got out of it was that Gerry Anderson's real name was Gerald Alexander Abrahms, and Syliva Anderson was originally Sylvia Thamm! But that's good enough for me!

  4. I'm pretty sure I had a version of the spinner and launcher on page 38 ( top right) back in the 70s though mine was white. I remember it as at tne time it was the closest toy I had that looked like a UFO from the TV series and was a great target for my Dinky Interceptor. Was it actually a spinner and launcher or something else? Anyone else remember having one?

  5. Fascinating posts! I always have a soft spot for Hong Kong because it was where my Grandfather met my Grandmother and my Dad was born. Sadly for our interests, books on Hong Kong manufacturing (and specifically toys) are pretty thin on the ground.
Here's a link to the only book I have on the subject, it's now out of print and eyewateringly expensive!

Given the Moonbaser's brains trust on all things T in a Circle etc, maybe you should get together and publish your own book about HK toys....
    I'd buy it!
