Years later a whole new Generation of Mattel kids got to own a Captain, in a nifty bit of recycling, this time in the form of a Colonial Warrior from the Battlestar Galactica range.

Minecwasctue Cylon version. The Captain was way too expensive for my pocket money funds! I always felt the Captain was an odd concept as he was totally out of scale with Major Matt. I was surprised to discover recently that some of the moon vehicles could accommodate him as well as the Major.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere on the web that someone was speculating he might have been based on a Japanese toy (like the later Shogun Warriors) but I have never seen an evidence to back that up...
Pocket money? Would a large toy like the Captain not have been purchased for you by your parents Looey? Say at Christmas in the Sixties? That Japanese mystery link is intriguing!
