Looking forward to putting this 1.48 scale kit together. Not sure how big it is but a fellow 1999 fan, Peter O'Rourke put it together and needed a lot of glue!
I think Airfix missed a trick with this. They should have really done it to 1/44th scale then it would have been perfectly in scale with the 22" MPC Eagle kits ! ;D
Mere 72 kms in diameter it seems... takes all Glenn Field!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm gonna need a bigger man shed, Arto! ;D
DeleteHa ha. That moons big enough to land on Scoop!
DeleteYes indeed, Woodsy, and it's gonna need a lot of paint! ;D
DeleteIn 1/48th scale that works out to 43 3/4 miles - still larger than many real moons. I always said 1/48th scale models are too large.

DeleteCan't wait to finish this kit, it goes perfectly with my O-scale model trains. Word to the wise: the shipping costs for this kit are astronomical.
ReplyDeleteHa,ha! Thanks for the heads up, Capt Steve. Thinking about it, I wonder if the postman will be able to deliver the package through my letterbox?! ;D
DeleteSo was the Death Star an Airfix kit?
ReplyDeleteIn close up, it looked like lots of airfix kits!
DeleteI'm told that the Death Star was built by the Galactic Empire kit company, MJ! ;)
DeleteApril fool?
ReplyDeleteApril Lunatic surely !
