Woah ! Not wishing to be needlessly negative, but these are truly dreadful. It's not one of my favourite movies, but:- a) The designs in The Black Hole are a bit derivative and naff anyway. and b) These look nothing like them !
I think these are typical mail away outfits, I remember one of the Tea companies did these in the early 70's, I think they were printed onto potato sacks? Very sturdy anyways 8-)
Those are quite horrid. I wonder how many kids sent in the answer Cygnus Guard vs those who sent it in as Cygnus GAURD as it is spelled on the "maze" lol.
Interesting to compare the Black Hole costumes with the ones by Fantasia that MJ had as a kid https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2019/10/mjs-fancy-dress-mail-away.html

Yep, they do look pretty bad, Mish. I thought it was just a micky take at first!

ReplyDeleteYeah, they do have a mail away look about them, MJ. I wonder if any still exist?

ReplyDeleteAha! Maybe it was an intentional trick question to make sure the kids were actually paying attention, Lance.
DeleteLooks like paper costumes were popular in the Seventies Scoop! https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/186758715772059599/
ReplyDeleteThey do look pretty weird, Woodsy
