On MOTU Battle Cat versions, thought of sending you these pics for comparison. The upper one is marked (c) MATTEL, INC. 1976 TAIWAN whereas the lower one (c) Mattel, Inc. 1983 MALAYSIA. The green colour on the 1976 version is a bit lighter.
Glad you sent the comparison pic in, Arto. It's an interesting insight, especially as I'm out of my depth with the MOTU toys. Do you have a particular favourite between these two cool cats?
Hi Tony, great to hear from you. I have a number of Battle Cats as I just love the design and cannot pass one when spotted. The 1978 version is special for me as I have not solved its coming into being just yet. Perhaps an avid Big Jim collector could shed some light on the matter.
Ps. When did I last check upon this? Must've been a while.
It turns out that there IS a 1976 version of the Taiwanese Battle Cat, and not only one but TWO as explained below. I believe I have one of those somewhere too, hence my previous assumption on the year
A correction is in place: The earlier year is 1978 not 1976. Pretty hard to distinguish from the toy but shows better in the lower photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Arto. Well spotted. You have the power!
