The Four Square name indeed belongs to a chain of grocery shops in New Zealand - my first job was in one of these small shops. General groceries, frozen foods, fresh fruit and vegetables, household products. They are still going, but are harder to find they they once were, now mainly in small towns and the like, where there are no big supermarkets nearby. By the time I was working there, in the late 1970s, promotions like this were a thing of the past. A pity.
Sometimes at fairs and markets you can come across various items, such as old card alblums. Greggs Jellies contained various bird sets over the years, then there were weetbix and various breakfast cereals. Not sure about vintage advertising, as this is not my usual field. I will have to pay closer attention once the fairs start up again, and see what is around. A great item.
Thats a great colouring book cover Scoop, really appealing and fab TB2 chops too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it does look pretty good, Woodsy. I seem to think that the 'real'Thunderbird 2 was originally going to be blue!
Delete" SOS!... Mr Tracy, the copyright lawyers are calling..."
ReplyDeleteIt was done by a grocery firm in New Zealand apparently. The competition closed in September 1967 so they may have got away with it, Lewis.!;)

ReplyDeleteIt was a great looking flyer. Do vintage things like this ever turn up in N.Z.?
