Remember the days when kiddies fairground roundabouts had imaginative Gerry & Sylvia Anderson creations. In Southport we had the Pleasure Land fairground, which had a Supercar and a Stingray. They seemed to be there for years, I wish I'd taken a photo. I spent enough time sat in them. Here's a couple of photos, taken by an unknown photographer of a couple of UFO Interceptors. I wonder what happened to them?
Great photos. I once saw a FAB1 ride at an antique centre but it had a 'not for sale' notice on it annoyingly. I was present at an auction when a Dalek ride (made by Edwin Hall?) went for quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, credit to whoever took these photos. Wow! A Fab 1, that sounds good. Mind you even if you could have bought it, how would you get it home, ma'lady?;)
DeleteAnything Dalek related always goes for Megabucks. They're still very, very popular as you well know, Kev.
Do you remember the rides at Southport's Pleasure Land, Kev?
I don't really because I only moved to Southport in my 20s so didn't really go. Shame that.
ReplyDeleteThey would probably have still been there then, Kev. A lot of the stalls and rides were around for a long time. A lot didn't seem to change from the fifties. Sadly a lot of it got bulldozed. Thankfully, The new owner, who I've done some joinery work for, has put a lot of work and investment in the new Pleasure Land, and it still retains some of the old nostalgic buzz.
DeleteLove those! Although I must have missed when the US Air Force was flying them lol. I've not seen that particular Grandizer/Goldrake model that's behind the green/white Interceptor.
ReplyDeleteOn the left side of the other pic there a scoop of sorts on the front of a vehicle, wish we had more of it in view as it looks very familiar but not enough for me to hazard a guess.
