UFO CAR MYSTERY

I saw this UFO car on Worthpoint. It looks plastic to me or is that gold paint? Is there a plastic UFO car toy?

  1. I think its a repainted Dinky. I've seen several on ebay over the last few months. Its near impossible to get that shiny gold effect of the original.

    1. Interesting Timmy. It probably is a re-paint. A plastic one would be like rocking horse do do's.

  2. I know Dinky did experiment with Ed Strakers car produced in plastic, but I don't think they ever mass produced or made any for retail?

  3. Well as this is the only pic we have atm, do we have a date for it?
There was a Scalextric resin kit 1:32 scale but the rear 'window" seems the wrong size. https://picclick.co.uk/Gerry-Anderson-UFO-Ed-Strakers-Car-Resin-Kit-253198026467.html

Scalemates has a resin kit at 1:43 scale but the side windows are the wrong shape plus many other issues https://www.scalemates.com/kits/garage-kit-ed-strakers-paul-fosters-car--1104611

However, in 2001, Spectre Models released a "kit" that was mad out of Keramin-S, very similar to plaster of paris. It is the same size as the dinky toy and tbh I would not be surprised if they just made a mold using the toy and poured into it as it has a very garage kit vibe to it. I am unable to find more info about Spectre Models which makes me think low production fan made run. Here is what I could find http://www.isoshado.org/6/6_merchandise_archivio/index.htm and the car itself https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/0kiFrqVx6rlzKzzE8-ZIaXyBabCrS43xkesijms0euyLAAiHCFORo6YPpoUxkshwg6ZC2A6tgwoKHnol6W3Pbm23WWe6SArBs0FSRmnBg3mJSZ2Gg-zudjDKh57kCQ

Odds are someone either repainted a dinky or it is this kit. I can't b certain which without a pic of the bottom or sides.

    1. Great summary Lance. I agree, I think its a very plasticcy looking repaint of a Dinky. I like the other kits you mention and hadn't heard of those. Great research as always.
