A little time on my hands gave me the opportunity to repaint the diecast Modulo I bought recently. As the decals had refused to come off, it was necessary to strip it to the bare metal. In a bath of paint stripper, the old colour and the heavy decals came away easily, so a quick wash and a burnish with soft wire wool had it gleaming. At this point, I did consider leaving it bright silver, but hoped that the white spray paint I bought might look better.
For reasons of economy and convenience, I bought a cheaper brand that I normally used and unfortunately paid the price. Coverage was not great and drying time was several hours. Even then, I still left fingermarks in the top coat. Re-assembly was tricky too and the paint scraped off at slight contact.
But all in all, it turned out ok. I was never hoping for a good studio style finish, so it looks fair enough for a place on the shelf.
What size/scale is this please? -MJ
ReplyDeleteIts about 6” long and says 1/38 on the bottom. Not desperately accurate as its a toy, rather than a model
ReplyDeleteCool! That's still a lot of detail packed in for a toy car! Good work!- MJ
DeleteIt looks like a fine job to me, and kudos for resurrecting this “ancient” beauty!
