Digital Effects are the great democratising force in amateur film making! We not only stand on the shoulders of giants like Derek Meddings, but we have powers on our laptops that dwarf what Mr.Lucas had at his disposal for the first Star Wars film! Its a weird time when ordinary people can produce something that would have caused jaws to drop, a generation ago!
I know what you mean Lewis, but, whatever the technology, the efforts of a talented amateur will always be more praiseworthy than those of an everyday professional.
