AIRFIX ORION SPACECRAFT

Some previously published photos I did of my Airfix Orion Spacecraft. Obviously,as they are all photoshopped the tricky part is trying to get the lighting on the model photos right, so it doesn't look too much out of place in the photoshopped background.

    Beautiful shots Scoop. I always liked the Orion. I was surprised that these 2001 vehicles were ever likened to Project SWORD vehicles but the Japanese 2001 toy versions are stupendous. Your photos really do the model proud. Looks real!

      Thanks Woodsy. I can't say whether SWORD toys were really likened but as we know they were certainly associated with 2001, what with the film premiere and publicity photos in TV21 and the SWORD annual, and quite a few other connections. With the Japanese toys I think a blog post from you on them is called for as I'd like to know more.:)

      Well, thank you very kindly, MJ. I must admit I do like the original box artwork (Roy Cross?) before Airfix changed it after the Pan-Am decals were dropped.

    Extraordinary photo shoot of a beautiful model build. Your photos really create an environment, and the model comes across as other-worldly. I built both the Airfix and the Aurora version of the Orion way back when, and took a few snapshots outdoors against the sky, but this was way before I realized that I could spray the model with a matte finish to remove the shine, so of course it looked like the "toy model" which it was. Glad to see this iconic beauty done justice here...

      Cheers Ziggurat. The overall colour of the model I used is Diamond white, the same colour used for the 1999 Eagle. The shading is variations of grey spray.
