Arto alerted me to this Alphadrome thread, with a Moonbase mention

Arto also pointed out this old Moonbase post, which may provide the answer

What do you think?
What great reference!
ReplyDeleteAny model maker worth their salt could scratch build reolacement fins using those pics!
I agree Looey. I have no salt.
DeleteThat’s the Otaki Space Car I bid on recently on eBay, but I’m glad it went to a good home. One frustrating thing about Alphadrome is they don’t really acknowledge the Japan SF model genre (I’ve even inquired as such), so they miss obvious overlaps and crossovers which Moonbase readers are aware of - another reason Moonbase Central is an essential resource. That “toy” which the Alphadrome reader ponders about is indeed the Otaki Mahha Space Patrol, fitted with a friction motor. Same molds, I would swear to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Zigg. Moonbase mentioned in the same sentence as the mighty Alphadrome is praise indeed. Alphadrome is an institution and I must visit once w eek at least and have for decades. I have a soft spot for Brian's Alphadrome too as Brian was the first person to publish my original Project SWORD Checklist way back in the mid 90's. Its been there ever since!
DeleteLove these Otaki space cars too!
