007 Monopoly Game: One for Christmas?

Hi Woodsy

While I was out yesterday, I came across a new board game I thought would be of interest to you, if you have not already seen it, a 007 version of Monopoly. The playing pieces are the 007 and gun logo; an octopus; the Bede BD5 jet from Octopussy; a man's shoe (why ? I could understand a shoe if this was a Get Smart game, as Maxwell Smart had a telephone hidden in his shoe - unless it is the one worn by Rosa Klebb in From Russia With Love);

The Lotus Esprit submarine car from The Spy Who Loved Me; and what I assume is Odd Job's bowler hat from Goldfinger. All in a silver finish. The aim of the game is apparently to own all the Bond films from Dr No to No Time To Die.

This is expensive, the shop where I saw a stack of these games had them at $70 NZ. Clearly a tie-in with the latest film. Just looking this game up, it seems there may also have been an earlier edition, going up to Spectre. Board games are really not my field, although I am taking more notice of them these days.
Here are a couple of photos I found on the internet.

Yours Sincerely,
Paul Adams from New Zealand

  1. Hi Paul, the first thing I noticed about the playing pieces, was there were no pieces for female players. But looking closer and doing a quick Google search confirmed the shoe actually IS Rosa Klebb's.
    However an embittered lesbian is maybe not a good role model.
    What is needed is a positive empowered woman like Pussy Galore.
    -Oh wait a minute, she was a lesbian too, until Bond "cured" her.
    Maybe we just have to accept that 60 years on, the Bond stories don't do women well!
