Well we've seen the Shack Sherman and the hideous Sherpanzer, so here is a tank I find especially attractive, the diminutive Matchbox Rolamatics S.P Gun from 1976. As part of the Rolamatic series, the tank has an action feature, so that when its pushed along, the gun snaps back in recoil! Rubber tracks and minimal design make this an all round favourite of mine since I first got one back in the day!
Really nice shots, especially the battery rolling in to action across a muddy field. To quibble, this is not a tank, but a self-propelled gun - it does not have a rotating turret or any machine-guns, and is intended to provide mobile artillery support. Fictional design, but a little like the US M109 or British Abbott, although both of those did have turrets. The suspension is a bit like that on the WW2 Sherman tank.
ReplyDeleteahhh I anticipated your comment on the post Paul, I realise it is a self-propelled gun, but it was sufficiently tank shaped for my purpose! I do have a number of good tank and military toys and models, which I hope to bring out shortly.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Youre bringing out the big guns?
