MYSTERY PLASTIC SPACESHIP

I've seen this cool plastic multi-decked spaceship in blue too.

I saw this maroon one on an old sale.

Anyone know much about it?

  1. Very nice. The design looks like an old Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon ship?

    1. It does Andy. Its very atomic age. Almost Art Deco! I know I've seen it before.

Nice model. There seem to be a couple of words, or a word an a number, moulded into the top section. I can not make these out, but they may provide a clue ?

  3. I first saw this in blue a decade ago on an old vintage toys site called Zoomer Toys, which appears to have gone. The site owner wrote a book so I'll check that. Maybe its in there too!

  4. I'd be interested in latching on to one of these - excellent example of the Buck R Flash G types like Andy said.

  5. They look like they may go with those Australian-made space cars? The number of parts taking them from Dimestore to full 'toy'!

  6. Looks like a very old, retro design, like from the 1930s or 1940s. Beautiful thing, though...

  7. I've had a look at Alphadrome and can't see it first look. Zoomer Toys site has definately gone so can't look there, where I think it was blue and red and boxed. I just hope I can find my copy of Future Toys book, where it might be included.

  8. Yes it's very Buck Rogers-ish. I had the blue version (with red nose, red tail piece and lights) as a boy, and found a bashed-up one for cheap on ebay a decade ago. They were very cheap toys at the time, mine purchased at the toy stall in my home town's Victorian-era Market Hall. I also had the X-30 and X-50 Space Racer plastic ships but these now command quite high collector's prices!

    1. Wow, you had one Charlie! What a marvellous thing! I must find that picture of the blue and red one. It has the box too.

  9. Did you find your book with more info on this one, Woodsy? Would love to know more, not to speak of finding one!
