I'm getting confused, which isn't difficult.

 What's the chronology and nomenclature of Quatermass airings?

 Here's my rudimentary shot in the dark for your consideration. Like a stretching ooze its full of holes!

 1.  The Quatermass Experiment BBC TV series
2.  The Quatermass Experiment BBC TV Film
3.  Quatermass and the Pit BBC TV Series
4.  The Quatermass Xperiment Movie
5.  Quatermass and the Pit BBC TV Film
6.  Quatermass II
7.  Quatermass and the Pit Movie
8.  Quatermass 4/ Conclusion/ Ringstone Round TV series

 There have only been 4 actual separate stories. Yes?

 So Professors, please pull this apart and reform it in the silos of your minds and tell me what's what.

    Hi Paul, I can't post from my phone so here is the sequence as I know it.

    1. The Quatermass Experiment BBC TV series. Much of it was performed live and other than a couple of episodes experimentally recorded the rest is lost. At the time, the BBC considered the recorded quality too poor to continue. I have copies of the surviving episodes and they are actually not too bad and watchable IMHO...

    2. Quatermass II. BBC TV Series.

    3. The Quatermass Xperiment Movie. (Hammer Films)

    4. Quatermass II Movie. (Hammer Films)

    5. Quatermass and the Pit BBC TV Series.

    6. Quatermass and the Pit BBC TV Series, repeated on TV in 1959.

    7. Quatermass and the Pit Movie. (Hammer Films -,1967)

    8. Quatermass 4/ Conclusion/ Ringstone Round/ The Harvest. TV series. (ITV 1979)

    I'm unaware of any BBC TV films, unless they were stitched together from the episodic series. Except, The Quatermass Xperiment series is largely lost). Although the BBC did a new live version with David Tennant sometime in the 2000's

    Well that's how I understand the lineage. There may well be others!

    1953 - The Quatermass Experiment, 6-part, half hour BBC serial.
    1955 - The Quatermass Xperiment, feature film by Hammer Studios. Note the spelling of experiment, to cash in on the adults-only X certificate (no one under 16 admitted).
    1955 - Quatermass II, 6-part, half hour BBC serial.
    1957 - Quatermass II or Quatermass 2, feature film by Hammer.
    1958 - Quatermass and the Pit, 6-part, half hour BBC serial.
    1967 - Quatermass and the Pit, feature film by Hammer, long after the original serial aired.
    1979 - Quatermass, also called Quatermass Conclusion, Ringstone Round (actually the title of the first episode), or Quatermass IV, 4-part, one hour ITV serial.
    1979 - Quatermass Conclusion, edited feature film version of the ITV serial.
    2005 - The Quatermass Experiment, BBC TV movie remake of the original 1953 version.
    As far as I know, that is it. Yes, just four stories, but lots of different actors playing Quatermass.

    Hi all.
    I think the 2005 BBC T.V. remake of The Quatermass Experiment was a live broadcast, with recorded inserts, and not a movie.
